Sin & Piet

A Dutch tradition and also what Santa Klaus is based on; Sinterklaas en Zwarte Piet.
The story goes, a Catholic bishop in what now is Turkey, kept slaves like all did back then. However, Sinter Klaas actually freed his slaves starting with 'Piet'. Piet stayed with the bishop out of loyalty and subsequently, every other freed slave thereafter adopted the name Piet!
Due to Marxists movement these days, the Piet is now seen as being racist instead of celebrating freedom and gift-giving for the children. Sinterklaas was known for giving the children presents on his birthday, December 6.
It is a shame that some traditions are murdered due to narrow minded thinking and political pressure.
